You would love to walk around with your favorite band
t-shirt, won’t you? But do you know what makes that print get on the surface. T-shirt
printing or screen printing is actually performed in many different ways. And
among them, silk screen printing is
one which is also called serigraphy in another word. It was way back in decades;
this printing method evolved and still is carried on with its own kind of
benefits. The first benefit is that it is cheaper than other methods plus it is
applicable in almost all kinds of fabrics with an excellent result.

For those who love to spend their times doing creative
stuffs, it is a good thing that is you can do a silk screen printing at home
using a machine. At first, you draw a design or a pattern on a stencil boards.
And then you cut it out and then press or iron it oppose to the wood screen and
woven mesh. Now the screen is pressed on top of the cloth and thus painting the
ink on the surface of the shirt or t-shirt. This is how it is done manually but
in case you are using a machine to do it, the screen is whipped with the
sensitive liquids. And later on when it’s dried, the patterned screen is placed
over the shirt by the machine. Once the ink is all discharged on the shirt, it
is left to dry. The process repeats on and on till all the colors are filled to
complete the design. One of the worst parts of silk screening is that it takes a long time and effort as each
color needs to be filled up and that begin with separate stenciling pattern and
screen every time. If you are doing it at home, make sure you wash and dry the
screen before you apply another shade on it. Plus things can get quite messy at
the time of pouring the ink over.
In spite of these facts, this old tradition yet remains
familiar when it comes to screen printing. So next time you like to create an
art for yourself with your own design on your t-shirt, see if you can do it by
your own. Though the job is messy and time consuming, it is worth spending your
time and effort; it’s interesting too.
